Here’s one simple thing you can do to make sure your site is ready for your inbound holiday traffic and helps you sell more with less hassle:
Be your own customer.
Use your own site (from the front end!) if you haven’t done that in a while. Or, have someone test it out for you and give you some feedback.
Especially, test your mobile website! Most of your traffic will be coming from Mobile Devices this year so be sure to give your mobile site a once-over.
Here are the things to look out for:
- Make sure the flow is good. Is it easy to get to the pages you want your customer to go to or do they have to search and/or use the menu to get to your biggest sellers? Have everything important accessible from your home page.
- Test that the photos of your products link to the product pages
- Make sure that the add to cart button is accessible (at the bottom of the screen under photos near someone’s thumb is a great place for it!)
- Go through your checkout as a customer and make sure there are no hiccups! (you can refund yourself or your friend who’s helping you out! This gives you practice refunding too for any issues that come up for you as well!)
A little prep and a few tweaks can go a long way to helping you make consistent sales and have fewer annoyances over the holiday shopping season!
